Black Pride Tee!

Franklin popped up on the scene in 1968 to break the color lines in cartoon strips and animated television. Concerned about looking patronizing or condescending to the Black community, Charles Sculz, PEANUTS creator, was excited to add the character at the behest of a school teacher in Los Angeles. Although he disregarded the backlash from the white community, he was reluctant to look patronizing tor condescending to the Black community. He sought out the approval of Black citizens via letters, to be sure he was moving in good faith, and decided to introduce Franklin to the PEANUTS family. So here's to Franklin, an animated Black American pioneer :)
